Best time to visit Rann of Kutch

A transparent glass where you peep in and see yourself. What if this world goes mirrorless? Doesn’t it sound a bit fearful? I mean how wonderful it is to be evident to yourself. Now you would say what are you talking about. I am talking of a similar mirror that is known as ‘Rann of Kutch’. Wondering what is the Best time to visit Rann of Kutch? You will get the answer by reading this.

Rann which is a Hindi word used for a huge landscape. Yes, a huge landscape of white sand. A splendid view which spreads beyond your vision. Something that’s vast. A consistency formed across the miles, it’s just a wow feeling as it appears like a white ocean.

During your Visit to Rann of Kutch, you will also witness the wonder of salt flats. Right after the summer when the monsoon arrives the water flooded in this dessert makes the Rann look like a white ocean. If the wind doesn’t interrupt a perfect reflection of the sky appears in this white ocean.

Post monsoon the water starts evaporating leaving behind a layer of salt transforming the desert into the white Rann of Kutch. Now, these crystals of salt act like a mirror, mornings are vibrant as the hues of sun rays fall on it, if the clouds are hazy they look dull and forlorn. Evenings are beautiful with sun spreading so many shades in the sky.

“Life is a celebration” and if you wish to explore the culture, tradition and colours of this land you should attend the “Rann Utsav”. During Rann Utsav, this white dessert looks, no less than a beautiful bride. You start feeling the essence of this land, handmade jewellery, colourful beads, folk songs, and those epic camel rides. What more can you ask for?

Don’t miss the watch tower placed here, as the enthralling view of this Rann from the watchtower would make you realise the feeling of nobody and nothing. What I mean here, is a huge dessert spread in miles and miles with nothing man-made on it. It’s just the feel of infinity!

This land is just an endless opportunity for photographers. You name it and you get it. Culture, colour, tradition, simplicity, natural beauty, and the vast topography of the plane land. You can make things look as huge as you can or as small as you can.

Do visit the neighbouring villages here, life is not easy due to the extreme climatic conditions here. But this land is an epitome of art and culture. Handmade in the word they spell, skilfully woven intricate designs on those colourful Ghaghara and Choli, embroidered dresses, patched quilts, glass art, beaded jewellery and much more that belongs to this land.

I just couldn’t stop taking pictures, but the effort was to buy the local anti-crafts from them. It was such a bliss to see the joy on their face, and there I made a deal to click every facet of their culture. The kind of jewellery they wear was unusual, but the uniqueness and art reflected in every piece of it. The Rogan art developed here is quite famous.

In the real essence, the life for common people is hard but their spirit is awesome. This “Utsav”  in reality means make you realise what it means to be Royal.
