Day 1: Siliguri- Phuentsholing (156 Kms)

After months of preparation and years of planning time has arrived to go on trip of lifetime. Our Team will meet you at a designated meeting point so that we get to know each other and group formation and rules for the trip will be explained. You can check youAr bikes and make last minute changes as per your riding style. We start our journey towards the border towns of Jaigaon and Phuentsholing.

Today’s ride will be fairly on plain roads with lots of bridges and tea gardens. Once you reach the border you will see the startling difference between hustle and bustle of India and organized and systems of Bhutan

 

Day 2: Phuentsholing – Thimpu (160 Kms)

After early breakfast we will move to immigration office to obtain necessary permits for entry to the Kingdom.                                                                       

Documents Required for Entry Permit:

1- Valid Passport or Voters ID ( For Indian Nationals) 2- Photocopy of the above documents

  1. Passport size photograph ( 2 nos)

  2. Necessary hotel bookings.(We will keep it ready for you)

After completion of necessary formalities, we will ride to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. It will be aroud 4-5 hours ride passing through twists and turns of mountain roads. Check in at your hotel and spend the evening roaming around Thimphu market.

 

Day 3: Thimphu Local (40 Kms)

After an early breakfast, head off to the immigration office to get permits for travel to interior areas of Punakha and Phobjikha valley. Spend the rest of the morning visiting the National Folk Heritage Museum, dedicated to preserving Bhutanese folk arts, the National Textile Museum, where you will learn all about the brightly colored and beautifully designed fabrics that are worn by the Bhutanese people. After Lunch check out Memorial Chorten and then ride up to Buddha Point to see the 169 foot tall bronze statue of the seated Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest sitting Buddha statues in the world. In the evening, visit the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress and Buddhist monastery with a distinctive Bhutanese architectural design. Sitting aside the Wang Chhu River, it is the current seat of the Druk Desi, the head of the civil government and houses the offices of the current king.

 

Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass (85 Kms)  

After breakfast we ride to the former capital of Bhutan until 1955, Punakha. Enroute we stop at Dochula Pass, which provides a panoramic 360 degree view of the Himalayas. It will be 2-3 hours ride. After check in at our hotel in Wangdue we ride to Punakha Dzong, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful and charming Dzong in Bhutan, standing tall right at the confluence of two rivers Pho Chhu (Father River) and Mo Chhu (Mother River). The Dzong from the inside is equally beautiful with a large courtyard lined with administrative buildings on 3 sides and a huge temple at the front.

After checking the Dzong we will go on a small hike and see the mesmerizing Punakha Suspension bridge which is about 180 mts long.         

After reaching Lobesa Village we will go on a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang also known as “Temple of Fertility”. The temple is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley, fondly known as ‘Divine Madman’ because of his non- conventional and ‘outrageous’ style of teaching. He was a social critic and openly challenged the hypocrisy of the established orders. Thus, the use of his Phallus (Penis) as a ‘flaming thunderbolt’ weapon symbolizes the discomfort that society experiences while facing the truth it can be seen throughout Bhutan on house walls, roofs and altars. Return to Hotel at wangdue in the evening.

Day 5: Wangdue-Paro (125 Kms)

Nomadic caravan will start its journey to Paro the second major city in Bhutan and Bhutan’s only airport is also in Paro. Enroute check Tachog Lakhang. After reaching Paro visit Rinpung Dzong and National Museum of Bhutan. From here you can have a beautiful view of Paro Valley. You can have lunch in one of many cafes on the main street and do some souvenir hunting.

 

Day 6: Paro-Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang Monastery)-Paro

After breakfast we ride towards base of Tiger’s nest, we take an exhilarating 2-3 hours hike to Taktsang Monastery (or Tiger’s Nest), one of the most recognizable sites in Bhutan. Built precariously on a hillside cliff, it sits more than 10,000 feet above sea level. Accessible only by foot, we follow a trail decorated with colorful prayer flags along the way to protect travelers from evil spirits. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava flew to this exact spot on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated here for 3 years. Spend rest of the day exploring markets in Paro.

 

Day 7:Paro-Siliguri (305 Kms)

Nomads will bid its final goodbye to the “land of Happiness” today and will ride back to hustle and bustle of India. Overnight stay at hotel in Siliguri.  

 

Day 8: Departure

Nomadic caravan will bid farewell to the Himalayas and travel to their further destinations. . It’s time for final chat with the fellow nomads and bid adieu to this trip. Saying goodbye is always hard but we promise we will meet back for more such journeys and living in your memories for life. We will drop you at Bagdogra Airport.

Booking Policy:

  • Pay Booking amount of INR 10,000 as advance.

  • Pay remaining amount 30 days before commencement of tour.

 

Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellations made before 45 days prior to the trip will result in 70% refund.

  • Cancellations made between 30-45 days prior to the trip will result in 50%refund.

  • Cancellations made 30 days before the trip date will receive no refund.

  • Booking amount is non-refundable.

 

Change or Cancellation by The Thumping Nomad:

We do plan the arrangements in advance. It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements. Occasionally, we may have to make changes due to Force Majeure Events and we reserve the right to do so at any time before or during the trip. If there are any changes, we will advise you of them at the earliest possible date before or during the trip based on the Force Majeure Events. We also reserve the right under Force Majeure Events to cancel your travel arrangements / offer alternative dates / revise the itinerary before or during the trip. Any additional cost incurred due to the above mentioned reasons will have to be borne by the traveler himself. There shall be no refund to the traveler under Force Majeure Events.

 

Force Majeure Event shall mean and include any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of The Thumping Nomad, including without limitation, any act of nature or the public enemy, accident, explosion, fire, storm, earthquake, flood, drought, perils of the sea, casualty, strikes, lock-outs, labour troubles, riots, sabotage, terrorists acts, embargo, war (whether or not declared), governmental actions, delay in issuance or processing of Visa/permit, change of laws and regulations, orders, or decrees, or other causes of like or different character beyond the control of The Thumping Nomad.
